A construction of a new cleaning plant including 21 buildings, 3 rainwater retention basins and 4 pump stations is foreseen in the framework of the project Krka Phase III – Waste Water Discharge and Cleaning in the Municipality of Grosuplje.
The area concerned is part of the Grosuplje municipality which is made up of the Šmarje Valley, the Grosuplje and the Račna Karst Fields, and the neighbouring hills, which are characterized by numerous small valleys and karst fields. The underlayer of this area consists of Upper Triassic dolomites. Dolomites in the Grosuplje region are covered in red-and-brown clays. Recent alluvial sediments consisting of clays, sands, and gravels appear around rivers and streams.
The project documentation included a geological and geotechnical report. It is a compilation of results of inspection and preparation of geological and geomechanical characteristics of the soil and of results of the accompanying geomechanical calculations which served as a basis for further guidelines in planning the buildings of the central cleaning plant Grosuplje.
