A road connection between Sarajevo and Tuzla is a time-consuming task due to the morphological properties. A limited budget dictates a gradual improvement of the properties of the connection. The first section with improved road characteristics is the Kladanj–Podpaklenik section, where the Karaula Tunnel and two belonging bridges M11 and M13 were built.
The bridge is designed as a bridging construction with 9 spans in a total length of 284 m. The bridge is founded on reinforced-concrete piles having a diameter of 150 cm and a depth of 11 to 15 m.
The superstructure is designed as a monolith prestressed concrete slab of a thickness of 1.40 m, a width of 5.40 m and extended with side cantilevers to a total width of 12.25 m.
Incremental launching will be used in the construction of the bridge. Construction works on bridge M13 started in 2018.
