The new railway line will run between Divača and the port city of Koper. The 28-kilometre-long line rises to a height of 400 metres, which means that for such a short distance, most of the line had to be built underground, so 20 kilometres run through 8 tunnels with parallel service pipes, for a total length of 37 kilometres.
The link is an integral part of the rail link of the intermodal corridor in the Ionian/ Adriatic Sea area and part of the Trans-European Network (TEN).
In the first phase, a new single-track line will be built to relieve the existing single-track line. In the future, a double-track line may also be built.
The project has been fully designed in the BIM digital information environment. 616 individual information models of all structures were produced, consisting of more than 433,000 information-enriched 3D elements.
Designing in a digital information environment with BIM models has enabled a high degree of consistency in the design solutions and forms the basis for more than 10,000 final drawings and for most of the quantities in the 160 works inventories used during construction.
