We reconstructed the road and its structures to improve safety and its technical elements. We expanded the parking lane from 2.50 m to 4 m, thus creating a 6-lane road. The new, extended lane can now be used as a third lane during increased traffic or vehicle breakdown. The lawn between lanes was removed, and the steel fence was replaced with a more durable concrete one.
The Ravbarkomanda Viaduct and three underpasses were also rehabilitated as a part of the roadway widening. This ensured a more efficient implementation of the road closure, allowing the diversion of all traffic to the directional carriageway during the construction works. The widening of the road and space constraints also dictated the construction of several retaining walls with a total length of 1.10 km. Due to the heavy load the road, the carriageway structures were upgraded and drainage of rainwater was improved. Safety fencing was also replaced along the entire section and the slow lane was further extended on section 0055, in the direction of Koper.
