For the Pekel tunnel on the Maribor-Šentilj railway project, BIM was used to support the classical design. Companies in the joint venture provided BIM models for their respective design packages. Our team collaborated with project leaders to provide the BIM Execution Plan (BEP). We created the 3D BIM submodels during the design stage for tunnel excavation and support, cut & cover sections, portals (architecture and structure), geotechnical systems, and landscaping. Models were created using Autodesk Revit and Graphisoft Archicad software.
We created tunnel support with the help of parametric 3D objects for characteristic tunnel cross-sections guided by graphical programming interfaces, which allowed swift changes and partial automatization incorporated into the modeling process.
Coordination of our submodels was also conducted, together with the filling of necessary model attributes and spatial coordination with BIM models of other companies.
