Švicarija Hotel situated at the south-eastern slope of the Rožnik hill was built at the beginning of the 20th century in place of a small pub. The building is a class listed monument, so materials and solutions that comply with the guidelines of the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Slovenia had to be used in renovation.
The building has four storeys, basement + ground floor + 1 storey + 2 attic storeys, and a partial basement. Technical facilities and two studios are located in the basement of the building. The ground floor provides space for two studios and a restaurant. The first floor has 10 studios, the attic storey has 6 studios with flats and the second attic storey has three more studios.
The project for the renovation of the building in terms of civil works includes entire static and seismic retrofit. The foundations are completely reinforced by subconcrete. The basement has a stone structure with brick vaults on steel cross-beams. Part of the basement is renovated with a completely new reinforced-concrete structure. The walls on the ground floor are thick brick walls reinforced with perfo anchors, the ceiling which is almost 5 m high is made of wood and reinforced with steel cross-beams. Large timber bar construction is visible on the first attic storey, which offers a lee to the roof truss.
