The 6.4 km long Granitztal tunnel belongs to a chain of railway tunnels, Graz – Klagenfurt. In the middle, where the tunnel approaches the surface, we used the covered excavation method to build a ventilation center for the entire tunnel. Our task was to make a BIM model for the ventilation center and both associated tunnel pipes.
BIM models included a tunnel support system, the architecture, and the construction of a ventilation station. A high level of detail of the model (LOD 400) was required, which led to the modeling the armature in 3D for the center and the entire section with Autodesk Revit software. Reinforcement plans, bills of materials, and details were then made directly from BIM models.
