Domača Peka is an artisanal pastry shop located in a corner ground floor shop of the Mali Nebotičnik (Little Skyscraper) – a building at the crossroads of Igriška and Gregorčičeva roads in Ljubljana. It got its name after home-made sweets which have been prepared by the investor’s family for over twenty years.
We decided to follow this noble tradition of artisanal home-made products in the renovation as well. We wanted to preserve this spirit of warmth and friendliness in the shop, too. The room was almost completely preserved in its entire height, the old oak parquet laid in a herringbone pattern was preserved, the old shop windows and the door were preserved, the furniture is made from massive oak wood. The parquet creaks, the door squeaks, the room smells adorably of marvellous sweeties made in the basement … and every time you pass by, there is someone sitting in the shop window, slurping coffee or eating exquisite sweets.
Does it not remind you of home, or what?
