In the framework of the completion of the Karavanke motorway tunnel, a new bridge over the Sava Dolinka river will be erected. The so-called bridge M2 is located on the local road LC 152161 between the regional road Kraje–Hrušica (R1-201/0205) and a temporary landfill for the entry of residues into ground No. 1a.
The building is designed as an integral composite structure that bridges the river in one field of a length of 31 m. The slab is composed of two steel boxes of dimensions B/H=100/130 cm which are connected by a 30 cm thick reinforced-concrete slab. The bridge has a deep foundation on piles having a length of 12 m. The project is special for the technology of its construction. It includes prefabricated composite girders that are transferred by means of a mobile hoist to prepared mounts on the support. Once installed, both composite girders are bound by an extra layer of concrete which binds the entire structure to a monolith.
The design of the bridge allows a two-way traffic with a single-side pedestrian corridor. The calculated speed of the traffic amounts to 40 km/h.
The entire project was designed by a BIM technology, which was used to prepare the technology of construction, formwork and final reinforcement drawings.
