To relieve traffic in the center of Pforzheim, the construction of the Pforzheim Western Bypass is planned with the new construction of the national road B 463. The 1,348 m long two-lane two-way Arlinger tunnel is part of the first construction phase. Parallel to the main pipe runs a rescue tunnel of 1,077 m, which is connected to the main pipe by four cross-ties.
The project comprises a main pipe with two staging bays and a central propulsion plant with caverns for ventilation and electrical equipment, a rescue tunnel with cross-ties, a covered north trench with a propulsion plant, a covered south trench, and a propulsion plant in the south.
Under a design&build contract, we prepared the detailed design documentation for a consortium of contractors ÖSTU-STETTIN, JÄGER BAU, REIF, and GRÖTZ, with the main challenge being to present the technical solutions for implementation in a timely, accurate, and transparent manner.
