The basic function of a logistics center is the reception and warehousing of goods in adequate thermic and sanitary conditions, and preparation of goods for further distribution to stores. The Logistics Centre Arja vas is composed of different storage units that differ based on the type of goods and the temperature regime they are dedicated to.
The complex includes a high-rack warehouse, warehouses for non-foods, meat, fruit and vegetables, and chocolate, as well as cooling rooms with temperatures +1°C, +2°C, +4°C, +14°C, and +18°C, and a freezing chamber with the temperature of -24°C. Areas for employees as well as offices for the management, energy supply facility, and a gatehouse are also included in the complex.
Due to its impressive size, the project demanded a high level of complexity in management and coordination activities, as well as in supervising the construction, trade, installation, and technological works. The peculiarities of warehousing perishable and non-perishable goods in high-rack warehouses, cooling rooms, and freezing chambers additionally dictated a high level of expertise in specialist technologies, rules, and regulations.
