Due to intense development and technological activities of the Iskra Mehanizmi company, an expansion to their manufacturing branch was envisioned in the form of a new structure in the industrical zone next to the Jože Pučnik Airport in Brnik.
In addition to the industrial-manufacturing building we also designed the construction of the 7.500 m² big office building next to the manufacturing plant. Both load-bearing structures buildings were made of reinforced concrete.
For the manufacturing plant we chose a prefabricated type of construction with included pre-cast concrete pillars, beams and slabs. This technology enabled the larger structural spans (up to 20 m) to be overcome easily and the work on the production facility, which was a priority for construction, to quickly progress. The construction of the commercial the commercial building was carried out in a conventional, on-site construction, founded on a foundation slab and subsequently tensioned floor slabs.
A particular challenge was the proper foundations of the production facility and the spatial location of the production facilities. The technological process required that high vibration be placed in the same building as highly sensitive measuring equipment, which had to be protected from vibration. Vibration transmission was solved by separating the foundations of the equipment from those of the rest of the structure, using suitable elastomeric bearings.
Both structures were designed using advanced BIM technology.
