Hotel Four points by Sheraton, Mons Ljubljana

The Hotel Four Points by Sheraton was designed in 2004 by architects Boris Podrecca in Miha Dobrin.
The new section is attached to the northern part of the original architectural design shaped like an open palm stretching into the forest. The hotel was enlarged with a new wing boasting 122 new rooms. A new foyer was designed instead of the old entrance, now enclosed with a glass facade, and reinforced with steel pillars. With the new construction, the lobby of the congress center became more extensive, and an underground garage was built along with a cellar and a spa.

The facade of the newest section forms a play of light and dark surfaces of varying widths. The dark surfaces comprise windows, glass fencings, and dark grey sheet metal. The light covers are made of perforated aluminum panels with a pattern matching the immediate surroundings – the forest. Parametric modeling, which was used to design the perforation pattern, creates a bit image from a digital photo of a tree. BIM technology was used to model the architecture, building construction, and utility infrastructure.
