The new building for Faculty of Pharmacy is in the university center in Brdo Ljubljana, next to the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, Faculty of Computer and Information Science, and Biotechnical Faculty.
We designed the building as a classic reinforced concrete six-story structure with vertical load-bearing columns and walls (garage, floor plan and 4 stories). The floor slabs are traditional reinforced concrete, with some locally pre-stressed elements. The building is founded on a reinforced concrete foundation slab supported by drilled concrete piles approximately 25 meters deep.
We paid significant attention to limiting vibrations transmitted from the environment to the buildings structure due to the extremely sensitive technological equipment installed in the facility. Additional complication in terms of vibrations was the proximity to the railway track.
The design of the building is focused on sustainable construction and the ambition to achieve DGNB “green building” certification.
