The “Kino Šiška” was more or less forsaken at the turn of the millennium, so the Municipality of Ljubljana decided to revive it with new cultural contents.

The urban culture centre, a new look of the Kino Šiška, represents, in terms of architecture, mainly functional improvements linked to the new use designation. All external architectural elements, such as glazing of the entrance prism, rendering, and glazing of the oval remained unchanged. All attractive elements of the entrance hall were preserved as well: columns with mosaics, Venetian pavement and a dominant staircase in the entrance lobby; also, the oval circumference of the hall and the exit ramps which adapt to the shape of the hall.

Interior architectural and technological innovations make the Urban Culture Centre with its 2.468 m² one of the largest and technically most sophisticated facilities of this type in Europe. The great hall – the Cathedral offers 800 standing rooms and 450 seating accommodations on 743 m² which can adapt to different, mostly musical and theatrical events, while the small hall – the Commune, has 200 standing rooms and 120 seating accommodations on 205 m² for more intimate mostly experimental and debating events.

[98,165,169
post-57646","portfolio","type-portfolio","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","portfolio_category-project-management","portfolio_category-preservation-of-existing-structure","portfolio_category-providing-access-for-the-disabled
["GET
